From the famous year of 1927, when John Logie Baird invented the TV up to the modern day, television sets have gone through some major breakthroughs as technology developed further in recent years… and who knows what will be next?
Cathode Ray Tube
During the 1990s it was mainly about the big, bulky, heavy CRT televisions dominating many houses
LCDs and Plasma Screens
As the millennium was approaching TV became lighter and flatter with the LCD and Plasma technology
Digital TV
As the 2000s kicked in the technology of TV went through an important change - from analogue to digital
HD TV
In the early 2000s the TV started featuring a much highly defined and sharper picture resolution than that of a standard definition
LED TV
With a similar technology to LCD, LED screens became popular in the mid 2010s but used tiny LEDs instead of CCFL lamps
3D TV
As the 2010s hit, the cinema effects could be experienced at home with 3D TVs, for which you need to wear glasses and sit exactly in front of the TV to capture fully the effects
Smart TV
The 2010s saw also the rise of TVs with a built-in internet connectivity which allowed music and video streaming, internet browsing, social media and additional entertainment features
OLED TV
On the contrary to LED TVs, OLED TVs don’t have backlights. Hence, an OLED TV frame can be as thin as 1mm and is ideal to watch fast-moving pictures on it
4K TV
The 2010s brought about 4K TVs or Ultra HD too! Pictures on a 4K TV are truly realistic with a high resolution 4 times than that of a full HD
